Teaching strategies (10 PDF files)

The following 10 teaching strategy booklets were written for the Deadly Maths Tutor Professional Learning (PL) program. This program was developed as part of ARC Linkage project LP0562352, Sustainable education capacity building: Empowering teacher aides to enhance rural and remote Indigenous students' numeracy outcomes, which ran from 2005 to 2008 in eight schools in north-west Queensland.

Using Calculators in the Primary School (PDF, 1.9MB)

This booklet is designed for teachers across all year levels of primary school. The book comprises two parts. The first section introduces the role of the calculator and includes guidelines on the selection of a suitable school calculator. The ideas presented in this introductory section form the framework for the activities outlined in the second section. Hence, it is important that these introductory notes be studied prior to working on the activities.
